How much are the grants?

Grants are fixed for each type of measure as indicated in the table below.

Grant approval must be in place before any purchase of materials or commencement of measures undertaken.

Grants are paid after the measures are completed and the contractor has been paid by the homeowner.

In the instance where the cost of the work (vat inclusive) is less than the fixed grant amount, the actual cost will be reimbursed.

Recycling Aluminium Cans
By recycling all your assorted aluminium cans, you will play a major role in saving on the amount of energy used in the manufacture of these products from the basic raw material.

The Process

Aluminium is found on Earth largely as an ore called Bauxite. This is basically an oxidized form of aluminum and the smelting of it, is the process of turning it into pure aluminium. This means all the oxygen atoms have to be stripped away. Aluminium and oxygen together form a very strong chemical bond and breaking it requires a lot of energy. This process is called electrolysis and more or less consists of passing vast amounts of electric current through molten bauxite. This is the reason why aluminium smelters require vast amounts of electrical power.

So as you can see why recycling your aluminium cans is probably one of the best things you can do.
